69 Torino 351W Holley carb info

I'm the proud owner of a '69 Torino GT fastback, just purchased it a few days ago. I had two of them over 30 years ago, a '68 302 4 speed, and a '69 302 automatic. It's been a dream for years to own another, and I'm living my second childhood with this car sitting in my garage now.

The car is in awesome condition with the odometer reading 37,000 miles which I believe is the correct mileage based on the condition and the way it drives. The engine is the 290hp 351W 4 barrel, with FMX floor shift automatic and 3:00:1 gears.

I did notice the carburetor dripping a bit of fuel and also it runs a bit rich. It looks like someone has swapped out the original carb for a Holley 735 CFM. It has a list number of 4168, a Ford part number of C80F-9510-AB and date code of 834. This would be from a 1968 428 automatic, which is obviously way more carb than a stock street driven 351W needs. The car actually runs well with good idle and throttle response, despite the size of the carb.

I have two questions. In the short term I may rebuild the carb, but have been unable to find the rebuild kit part number for this model, even on Holley's website. I'm not sure if a carb kit for a 4150 or a 4160 will work. Can anyone help with this info?

Second, if I were to replace this carb I'm looking for recommendations. I was thinking of a 600 CFM Holley Street Avenger with electric choke. Is this a good choice?

Thanks in advance,
Rick

Nice Torino! congradulations on the purchase .

IN MY OPION...I'll get shot down by most guys, but if you want a good reliable plug and play carb, get yourself a edelbrock performer or AVS, w/ an electric choke. I've had three cars with that carb and never had any issues, and barely had to tune it. Plus the performance good, I can almost guarantee you'll be happy with it.

Holleys, even the street avenger require tuning, unless you've worked with holleys before, it can be abit frustrating.

600cfm should be fine on stock heads / manifold.

I actually recall an article...i'll try to find it...about the street avenger vs the performer avs, the edelbrock out performed it.

Re: 69 Torino 351W Holley carb info

Like you I just picked up a 69 tornio GT fast back 351W auto 300 gears. I'm an old Mopar guy but having a ball with this car. It's all stock but it came with a 4160 600 cfm Holly 80453. It came with 65 jets 6.5 power valve and the black spring in the vack seck. Now on mine the engine is new and compreseion at 9 to 1 every thing elese is stock. after gitting the iginition spot on I ended up with the jets as 68's 10.5 power valve and the yello spring in the vack seck. I also bumped the statick timing up to 10 degries from 6 because of the lower compression and the thing just "Halls But" for a 3800lb car. Can't wate to put some try Y's and a intake on it. It's my every day driver. PM me if you want more details.

Well I can't give you any tips on your carb other than on your engine you shouldn't need anything over 600cfm.... But I just wanted to say that you have one nice lookin Torino there. I love that red stripe in the grill. I've never seen that before but there's just something about it....
