Not so new guy here!

Mr. Ed here. Not new to the boards but new to the Torino site. I sold my '63 Fairlane 500 hardtop two weeks ago and needed another car. I just brought home a 302, automatic, PS, PB, '71 Torino 500 yesterday. Runs really good for a car that has only been started occasionally in the past four years. It was a pleasure driving up the driveway and having power steering to guide it through the garage door. Today I clean the car and put together a list of tuneup and get-it-ready-to-put-on-the-road stuff. Oh and the key feature of the car is that the second owner kept a list of everything he did to the car. That list ended at 67,xxx miles. It now shows 67,845 original miles. It still has correct dated coded hoses on it! Yea, they are going to be changed but it is awsome to know that they are original!

Later!

Mucho Potential. Looks straight and most importantly.... it's all there. From what I can see, it's unmolested.

Re: Not so new guy here!

Thanks guys. The hood needs to be replaced and the rear drivers roof looks like swiss chees because it had a bad vinyl roof. It is getting dual exhausts put on and while it was on the lift, I looked underneath real good. The only rust is on the passenger floor at the very edge near the rocker. Surprised the heck out of me. I have a piece of floor left over from the '63 Fairlane resto. I didn't take pictures from the back so you didn't see the heavily rusted rear bumper which I will sand down and paint silver since replacing it is financially is out of the question right now. The guy I got it from put a GT trunk lid on it with fender extensions glued to the stock extensions. The trunk lid had rust on it so I put the stock lid back on and cut off the other extensions. He says it needs a heater core but according to the paperwork that came with the car, it had a new one installed in '92. I have some stuff to do on it when I get it back today, like check the brakes, get the fluids changed, etc. It will go on it's first cruise next Thursday when it makes it's debut at our regular Thursday night gig.

Later!
