69 Cyclone barn find ...

Just thought I'd drop by and show off my 69 Cyclone barn find. This old girl has mostly original paint except for the right door, zero rust except for some light surface rust on the front edge of the fenders and was sold new right here in my hometown. The car has 73,xxx actual miles on it.

The downside is that the car had a carburetor fire in 1988 and scorched the engine and underhood areas. No big deal but it will require a little elbow grease and engine swap to bring it back to speed. The best thing about the fire was that this car was then parked in a barn and stored inside until last fall. It will need a seat repaired, carpet replaced and the underhood repairs to be roadworthy again.

Kind of a neat old car that you don't see every day.

I love 68-69 Cyclones. That is an amazing find. Congratulations! Keep the updates coming.

Oh, and if you paid something like $1500 for it, don't tell us. I'm jealous enough already.

I wonder if there is a correlation between recent barn finds and the economy... i.e., people loosening their grip on the old hot rod in the barn because they could really use the dough right now.

BTW. Cool Cyclone. I could get real excited about that thing. Love that paint scheme.

Nice find!! My dad has a couple 69 cyclones, I think their pretty cool cars because when your driving them or go to a car show they really turn some heads, because mercury didn't make very many of them. I think someday these cars will be worth alot more than they are going for today, especially the Dan Gurney Cale Yarborgh editions and the CJ 428. BTW what engine and transmission does it have?
