He's NOT going to send it anywhere if I can help it...
I'm going to go see it tomorrow
My 1974 Mercury incident occured on: Thursday June 12, 1986 05:15. My best buddies 1974 Mercury Cougar XR7 351C 4V Premium fuel car traveling from Denver to Price Utah, went off the left side of the road when the driver (my other best buddy) fell asleep... Upon hearing the RUSH of the gravel under the left wheels he awoke and violently jerked the car twards the right side of the 2 lane highway (route 6/191 Greenriver to Price), upon reaching approximately half way through the proper lane he violently turned left, a weak attempt to turn a 3,500 lb 75 mph car straight again...
At that moment the right front axle decided that since it had been riding withought bearing grease all the way from VAIL Colorado, that it would just plain old SNAP... Which it did, and, when the wheel & rim and brake drum went off into the desert, the drag of the LCA and lower ball joint gouging up the highway sucked the front end right off teh road and out over a 15 foot drop where we ended up doing 2 end overs, and rolled about 3.5 times landing on the roof...
I was disloged according to the lone driver who saw the accident, at somewhere between the last flip and the second roll.... I was in a back brace for a year, on crutches for 6 months.. Real fun when you're 19....
Horribly scarred, adn with a surgically installed moustache I'll never be able to remove...
I've ACHED to get back into a 74 XR7 since that day...
This is only a lowly 2V Cleveland, and it's a Montego, but it's SO DAMN CLOSE I just think I might have to have it....
I send an e-mail...
