Re: death of a 74

I have been working on the top when I get the chance some work as come my way so its been a bit busy, still need new exhaust and I am still looking for a matching wheel, aside from that things are going well with it, have not attempted to smog it yet, as the exhaust is too short for the tech to get under the car, and I wanna put a muffler on there, and do a bit of carb tuning but aside from that the car runs great man.

Btw did you install a shift kit in the tranny or anything if shifts fine just not at the right RPM I figured maybe a kit was put in it at some time just wondering thanks.

Re: death of a 74

Far as I know the trans has not been opened, as for not shifting at the correct rpm, it could be that torque converter? I told you about that, only on really cold days, last winter, I pulled out the drive way got a block away and it would just kinda slip into neutral, still in drive, step on the gas a little harder and it would go again. Then it would be fine till she got cold again. It may be that the tc or trans is starting to go. It never bothered me really, just a little quirk of a old girl.

Also like I said before too, to get a lil better mileage you will need to replace that dizzy, the vacumn diagraphm has a leak, I capped off the vacumn advance at the carb and left the line attached to the dizzy. When you attach the line you'll see on the vacumn gauge the leak, and you can hear it at the dizzy. It didn't bother me that much so I just drove around w/ no vacumn advance. Not the best thing to do but eh, you might want to fix that

Re: death of a 74

Oh yeah thanks for reminding me, no when I get the car all warmed up and get on it seems like it shifts at a higher RPM then before, no biggie just never had that before. I gotta get around to servicing the transmission also dont know when it was done lost.
