death of a 74

Death of a 74, well it is time to let the old girl go. I was driving her for a while, good car. Those that have seen the pics know she is very clean. Last week the driver's side front bearings went out. I parked her in front of the house till I got around to working on her. Well some a hole hit the rear quarter and pushed her onto the side walk, breaking the rim, and putting a good sized dent into her. With the rising cost of gas and stuff it is time to let the old girl go. She has a lot of life left in her, I hate to see her go, but it is time. If anyone wants to take her or parts let me know. The engine is good, starts up and drives everyday, the trans slips a tiny bit if she gets to cold. Trans feels like it goes into neutral but by steping on the gas pedal a little she will go back in gear, so probably torque converter or something. Only happens sporadically, like once a month. 351 cleveland, probably 2 valve and 3 speed auto, good interior, have almost all the trim. I am in Vegas so if you want her bring a trailer or I have a spare tire and as long as your not going far, bad wheel bearing. Let me know, I would rather someone else take the old girl than let the junk yard get her.

what $50.00 or so. Not really trying to sell her, would like to see her go to a better home.

As recent as I have, just no vinyl top anymore, and a dent in the pass rear. If you are in Vegas and want to check her out, call me, Jeremy, 702-302-1696

Re: death of a 74

Well it seems the old girl is getting a new home. Guy came over today, he is going to come back in a day or so and do the bearing. He is a true ford guy and will make a better owner than me. I will miss the old girl, but she is going to a good home. I am sure he will make a post, and wish him and old girl good luck. Will miss the old girl. ( tears in my eyes )

Re: death of a 74

Well, the old girl is gone, Tom came and did the spindle and drove her away. I do miss that ol girl. I hope he has all the best luck w/ her, and she treats him right. She never left me stranded, and all ways started everyday. Could not ask anymore from the green beast.

Oh, by the way, the stock windshield wiper switch broke in half, there is a hole marked wipers on the dash board and the wires and the other half of the switch are tucked under the dash. You will need to run a simple toggle if you want wipers, good luck finding a factory replacement, I looked and looked and looked. It kind of became my mission, I go to the junk yards regulary to look for a switch from a 70's anything, never found the right 1. So you may just end up wiring in a toggle, I pulled the fuse as it would start sparking if I turned a corner to fast. So you may want to look into that. I have the front half if you want it, to see what you are looking for. I also found the reciepts that were in the car when I got her. They show the dates she was in for service, not necessary but cool info. Supprisingly no major service done to her, And let me know if you need anything else
