68/69 Torino Tower Brace

I have never seen an aftermarket one untill now, and there is one out on ebay. Have no idea how good it is or quality. Doesn't look too bad, maybe a decent alternative to building your own.

Though i'd just share.

eBay Motors: Fairlane Torino 66 67 68 69 Shock tower brace kit FORD (item 140241123639 end time Jun-22-08 19:35:36 PDT)&

From website:
The shock plates are .25" thick and mount to the factory studs. The Alum rod is a polished swedge tube that houses 3/8 heim joints.

Re: 68/69 Torino Tower Brace

I don't know about this brace. See how the bar sticks out several inches from the mounting plate - that's alot of leverage if it should twist. I think the better approach is to do what they did on Mustangs, in that the cross bar goes almost straight across between the shock towers. Of course, it wouldn't fit with the stock air cleaner, you'd have to run a smaller on, or work around it somehow.

Just my $.02

Won't work on the Torino - the brake booster is in the way. I agree that a solid tube would be better but I don't see a way to do it, or the export brace.

Re: 68/69 Torino Tower Brace

I would think that his design would work better if the bars came in at an angle towards the shock towers to eliminate the flex. Although that steel seems fairly thick...

I've wanted to design a straight bar that bolt to the firewall with an L brace before the shock tower between the distributor. I would want the stock air filter to fit.

Too bad there are not many aftermarket options.
