help with brakes

does anybody know what brake power boosters are interchangeable for my 72 gran torino.i also want to change the rear brakes over to disc any advice what can fit so i can salvage it from other cars thanks

You can grab the rear disc brakes off a 77-79 Lincoln MK. The same car should have a hydro booster system. That is the only factory brake booster besides the Vacume booster.




NOt a good pic but it shows the hydraulic booster.

Well problem with lincoln discs on the rear is lincoln is 5x5 bolt pattern torinos are 4.5x5 bolt pattern gotta change more then just brakes to get them to work.

thanks would i be able to use the vacuum booster from the squire and what about changing axle shafts to make the brake rotors work?

I am not 100% sure what needs to be changed for the lincoln setup, first you have to make sure the axles are the right length I would imagine, then you need to make check about bearings i dont know the difference between the torino and the lincoln, then once that is done and the brakes are on what do you do about your front wheels being 4.5x5 and the backs being 5x5 would be nightmare for spares and such

The Ranchero and Torino Handling and Suspension Manual 1972 to 1979 Check out this book if you want to know about a rear disc swap. It tell all you need to know..
