Why do you feel so bad? Are you a professional? I had a PROFESSIONAL shop do the same thing to a 1973 Chrysler Cordoba I had in high school. They put the rear wheel on and apparently didnt tighten them down enough to keep the wheel on for more than 1/2 mile before the wheel fell off and ruined the bottom of the rear fender. That little faux paus cost that shop $150 cash that went right in my pocket. Us, like mechanics shops and service departments, need to post little reminders on paper and put them on the steering wheel for stuff like that. I cant tell you how many big screw ups I saved the dealerships I worked for by putting little notes on the steering wheel saying "hood latch not secure" or whatever made it non roadworthy. Dont beat yourself, and good luck finding another fender.
