Suspension

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but do any of you have advice or recommendations for a coil spring and shock setup in a 4-door Torino? I've been looking at KYB gas-a-just shocks, but I can't seem to find any coil springs that look really good and look like they would be compatible with the KYBs and stock mounting setup. On the springs, I'm not looking for a huge lift or lower, I would just like to get back to the stock height and stiffness. Thanks.

Re: Suspension

so you just want factory style springs as far as stiffness and ride, I would suggest some good factory replacement springs then

Re: Suspension

Rock Auto shows almost 30 options for 74 Gran Torino springs. Use there catalogue for a reference. 1974 FORD GRAN TORINO Coil Spring

Re: Suspension

The "cargo coil" variable-rate springs are excellent for the rear in just about any application. For front springs, it depends on your engine and how firm a ride you're looking for. It's also a good idea to replace your suspension bushings at the same time to restore or improve your ride quality.

The KYB shocks are great, I have them on mine. Also, when it comes to coil springs, remember that you can get them at your local parts store instead of ordering them someplace online.

Re: Suspension

Depends on the ride quality you want.
I would honestly suggest a simple trip to a local parts house, and see what they offer as standard relacements.

I'll spare you alot of rambling on my part, but unless you plan on hauling alot of weight out back, pass on the cargo coils.

I have cut down lincoln springs up front and hd springs out back, and my car is a ball to drive but at times it feels like I am driving a dump truck with how stiff of a ride it is.

There has been some debate about springs for the 72 to 76 Torino / Montego crowd but it seems their isn't a ton of info compiled in one spot.

One thing how ever, aside from springs, do yourself a favor and install some sway bars if you do not have them. Will make a differance for our chassis.
