5 speed swap

i'm looking at doing a 5 speed swap in my 68 fastback, but i dont know what cars i need to look for for a set of donor pedals, the car is a c-4 car now, i posted a link in another forum but only got one response sayin that the pedals from a 68-71 torino would work, is this accurate?

Re: 5 speed swap

i would think the 66-67's should work too, not positive though. I did a quick search on ebay and it seems there are just 70-71 pedals available right now but they look a little different then my 68/69 pedals. Id be happy to post pics of mine if you want.
I will be starting my 5 speed swap soon as well. I have most the parts, just deciding on a time to start taking it apart

Re: 5 speed swap

fordmonsta, I bought pedals off of ebay last year for this swap in my 68 fast back. The pedals were from a '67 Mustang. I was a little nervous doing this as the parts interchange books really don't cover this interchange. What I would recommend is making sure the Brake Pedal is from the same type of system as your car. Power versus non-power. I believe the arm has a different shape for levergae but, I'm not too sure. I did a swap on an AMC 20 yeas ago and those arms were diferent power to manual. I have placed my pedals in the car even though the 5 speed is not is just too see if there were any issues and they fit like a glove. If you are not sure the things to look for in the pedals is the shape of the clutch pedal arm so that it clears the steering column shaft. Same thing for the brake pedal. The big thing here is that the shaft that the brake booster rod attaches too is in the right position on the new pedal versus the old pedal. One other thing to think about is what are you going to do for the connection between the clutch pedal and the 5 speed. I am ont he fense of what to do but for me I think the best option is to use the RMP cable conversion kit that attaches in the same location on the pedal arm as the factory clutch rod. The other style cable conversion kits for the Mustangs will interfere to the underside of the Cowl. I hope this helps. Good luck.

I had to do some custom fab work on the shaker unit, to get the hood to close with the intake,
but it worked great
