Ouch! 69 Torino

When to Good Guys show yesterday to spend time with good friends. After a great day and meeting som great people we headed home. We had to stop and a gas station on the was home. My friends son pulled in behind me while waiting for his parents. I hear a crunch. I jumped gtom my car and headed be hind me. A guy had pulled in to the station before the kid in Torino and slammed on the brakes and through it in reverse before he knew it the guy just backed in his brand new black Challenger with 2000 miles on it. Torino is a low mileage, I think about 42000 miles. Kid had the car since he was 14 and now 16 it was his first car show. He was unhurt but shaken up badly.

Re: Ouch! 69 Torino

Ouch. Well, hopefully the guy has good insurance, and we can help direct him to a GOOD bodyshop that can work the metal. Correction: looking at the pic that door is probably toast
Hard to tell with the angle and the light, but did it get into the fender or the quarter panel.
On worry I have, jusdging by the damage door hinges, and did the pillar get tweaked?
Was the glass rolled up, or was the window down?

Glass was down but did not break. He has not had it estimated yet. I think it missed the fender but it did dent the quarter. Quarter is fixable. Door is toast. Trying to find clean door now. Kid is still shaken up. He is afraid to drive it again. Strange thing is a body man backed into it.

Contact me (dcochenet@generac.com) if you need a door. I have one d. side and one p. side door. Both need work on the skins but is repairable.

Personally, I think this "bodyman" ought to offer to go over the entire body for the kid, as well as new paint !

That is just about what I was going to say! If he is a bodyman, then have him fix it and fix it right!

Unhappy Re: Ouch! 69 Torino

The guy said he would help me find a door, but he basically told the insurance company it was my fault! At the show I was talking to a guy also has a '69 GT and it turns out the guy that backed into me painted his car! Small world... It hurts real bad when the thing that you work so hard for is ruined in a matter of seconds...
