Question Thinking about a sidepipe exhaust

Ive looking at the kit from hooker that has headers and chrome sidepipes. I havent seen any torinos with this type of exhaust and i always liked it.

Anybody have experience with these or have a pic of a Torino with it?

And I was also wondering what the exhaust would sound like?

Re: Thinking about a sidepipe exhaust

At first, the thought of it on a 74 is not enticing to me, but after some contemplation it just might look pretty cool if you keep other exterior add-ons to a minimum.

Side pipes or exhausts that exit just in front of the rear tyre are very 70's and for the year of you car that suits! Don't be doing with what you think everyone else would want, do what you believe is right for your ride, if that means making a statement that cool - there is no right or wrong.

Only thing I don't like about most sidepipes is the 2 inch diameter inlet. Never saw any with a bigger one.

Side-pipes with some polished slot mags....
Just be sure to warn the ladies when stepping out, that'd put a damper on the evening.

Re: Thinking about a sidepipe exhaust

I remember seeing a pic of a Torino with sidepipes... It looks pretty good except the thing had crazy offset wheels...

One thing I would say, I personally think they would look 100 times better if one someone was good with metal work and tucked them up into the side of the car more rather than just having them hang down...

Re: Thinking about a sidepipe exhaust

I ran a set of Doug Thorley show tubes on a Maverick back in the 70's. They sounded a bit deep in tone. Right on about warning the ladies, or if you wear shorts, you can get a nasty burn. Heck I still have the pipes and the Maverick.

Re: Thinking about a sidepipe exhaust

Yeah I dont like alot of chrome either i just wanna put the side pipes and some 16 or 17 inch mag wheels.

I also agree with putting them a little more under the car i think it looks tacky if they stick out to far.

Unfortunately our football season is coming to an end soon and since im a senior and the NFL dream isnt gonna ever happen I guess i get to find a real job and spend all my other time hunting and playing with my toys

Re: Thinking about a sidepipe exhaust

Hey! I just reread your first post on this. You said headers and side pipe kit. I think the kit is very limited on applications. Just a few car types available. Just the side pipes for everything else.
