First Q in The Truck Forum! Speedometer Cable?

Does the connection in the back of the instrument cluster come off just from squeezing it? The cable on other cars I've worked on have just popped off when you squeeze it right, but I can't get it off on my 93 Ranger.

Is there a trick or a tool?

No trick just be patient they can be a pain in the butt.

If I remember right you dont squeeze it so much as you push the lip closest to the back of the cluster to one side. Try pushing it up, down, over, under, blah blah blah, you should get to a spot where it moves quite a bit, and it should slide off.
