393Clevor pretty much cinched it for me. I can't afford to buy a low mileage diesel, and don't wanna get stuck with the possible astronomical repair bills that can come with a higher mileage unit. Unless I stumble across a deal on a diesel that I can't refuse I am sticking with gas. I don't tow on a regular basis, I don't drive a truck over 15,000 miles a year, so I just don't think it is going to make sense economically. I'd love to have a diesel, but I just can't justify it.

The plug in tuner of chip is the best bang for your buck. It makes a huge difference in performance. The chip not only increases HP and torque, mileage increase are common (but not if your in the throttle). It also gets rid of the annoying throttle delay. The downpipe is a restrictive piece as well, although if you want a big performance gain for your money, go with a chip and you won't be sorry. I have a '99 powerstroke myself I tow 13,000 pound trailer with frequently (40k plus a year), and I went from 10 to 12.5 MPG loaded-in similar driving conditions. Take this as you may, but I also sell many different diesel performance products and own a chassis dyno including flash tuners and 'chips' which you can switch on the fly. Don't mean to be a salesman, but if you really want good tech info, contact me @ andy@dynotuneusa.com. Have fun

watch the 4" down pipe with a stock turbo exhaust housing.it will have some severe turbo lag compared to a 3
31/2 down pipe,a stock down pipe on a 99-03 7.3l is about 2 7/8 at the turbo and 3" after the crossmember, the 4" down pipe will give you about 200-250 deg cooler egt than the
3- 3-1/2,but the smaller down pipe will give a little bit better throttle responce,I like the 4" banks kit with the exhaust housing, compressor wheel, and big head actuator.great throttle response, low egt and good clean boost about 25-27 psi at wot going up hill pulling a 15k trailer with 950 egt at the turbo.

Superchip claims that you can go back to original factory setting in no time. What I want to know is if these computer enhancers are tracable. Some of us have chosen to opt for the extended warrantys, and want more performance. But don't want to take thier rigs back to the dealer only to find out that the dealer found out that you had messed with the computer, therefore you voided your warranty instantly. Has anyone ever come across this situation?

some turners will leave a P0603 kam code(keep alive memory)or a waste gate code,or a over boost condition,a perf chip or programer can't void the entire veh warranty, say you are running down the road up and down hills pulling 15k.80hp chip or programer, trans takes a dump, torque converter is black and blue from excesive heat, and clutches are burnt aswell,or turbo blows its guts out,you are pretty much sol.would a stock veh normaly do that? No! since you added 80 hp you have added axtra heat to turbo and trans, thats why you need big exhaust and shift kits,to get the heat ou of the turbo and have the firm shifts, its just like hottodding your 5.0L you have heads cam and intake and stock shifting trans?...... now same scenario but water pump fails, oryou get a severe oil leak.high press pump orings, that chip is not going to cause those items to fail.now....trans leak a tail shaft housing, should be covered, torque converter hub seal leaking, defective seal should be covered, same seal leak caused by black and blue converter with 80hp chip you'll probobly pay for it.guns dont kill, people do,chips-tuners dont kill, poeple do.ford builds safty margins in there powertrains, speed gov, engine rpm cut outs, etc, you chip it,you you raised the perf bar,and took out that safety margine, you just have to drive smart, watch your guages, esp exhaust gas temp, and trans temp.

I just installed the 3 in. down pipe, Edge evolution programer, and egt/boost gauges.

What a differance the controler makes!

At a steady 60mph, the egt temp is 500 degrees and the boost shows 2 lbs.

It makes a "ton" more torque.
