Description: You could actually special order this F-100 XL truck from the dealer (sans war paint) as the Total Performance program gets extended to the truck division. A cross between a pickup and a Galaxie XL, it is unknown how many were made after the 2 prototypes. To get it, the dealer orders a six-cylinder F-100 unibody, standard three-speed trans. and Custom Cab with buckets and console. He then specifies delivery to Dearborn Steel Tubing (they're the ones who first put the Fairlane V8 into the Falcon). DST removes the entire unibody to make the engine-trans. switch along with a stronger clutch and springs, custom rear mounted 14 gal. gas tank, rear wheels are replaced with 9.00 x 15 slicks on special 8 1/2 inch rims. With the "FX" conversion completed, the dealer is contacted to arrange for delivery. Best times were 12.72 @ 108 mph, now that's a pickup that hauls!
