46 Ford 1/2 ton :)
a friend has a 46 Ford 1/2 ton for sale, it has a boxed and fully welded frame, mustang 2 front end with new poly bushings, and a 460/C6. It needs to be finished, wired, brakes, interior, body work, etc. Pictures here of it, if interested, let me know and I can forward you his email or phone. The truck is in BC,Canada and is asking 3000.US

Good to have you back, Rick. I wish I had the money and it was closer. That would be one tough tow rig!

thanx Brian, I just wish I had the money for the truck, man it would look so cool when it was finsihed. The motor came out of a 78 or so Lincoln, and it ran. Thing would be a total sleeper.

This would have been an "F1" wouldn't it ...
Didn't the F100 insignia begin in 53?

The post just got my curiosity going and I'm not sure when the model name changed

crazy monster take it for what it worth. I have no idea when the F100 started, but its a cool truck none the less. If I get a chance, I'll check and see when the F100 namesake started.

Definately a cool truck to work with ... so many of the 53 to 56 pieces on the road ...
For instance I just subframed my 55 Effie (oooh don't tell Queenie I just called it mine) with a Pontiac Trans AM front clip ...
Doing that to on of these pre 50s trucks would be very cool, I can't imagine watching one of these old pickups whaling through a canyon road at 110 and handling like a "Slot Car" ... but I bet'cha we could do it.
"novel concept"

I still have pix of your truck on my site, but I dont have anymore space of my own to ad more. If you want to join it, you can ad all you want of it. The site is

I would like to get the 46 for sure, but I have way to may projects and havent had a chance to do anything to them for awhile so there sitting and my yard looks like a small wrecking yard as it is. But a sleeper '46 with a 514 sure sounds bitchin'

Larry, I got a reply from my inquirey, and he says its called a 1/2 ton, not a F1 or F100. Guess I should stay in the dark huh
Rick
here's his reply
But as far as that truck goes, it's named by its size. For example, that is a 1/2 ton pickup so it is referred to as a 1/2 ton pickup. Where as an F-1 would be a 1/2 ton pickup from '48-'52, and an F-100 would be from '53 to whenever.
