trans for towing

I'm finally getting around to putting together my 1961 unibody longbed that I will use for towing my 3000lb. car to the track. It has the original 223 straight 6, 4 speed w/granny gear. I have a newly rebuilt 302 for it and an old c4 tranny sitting in the garage. Will the original 4 speed bolt up to the 302 and is it strong enough to tow? Would it be better to use the c4 or get a c6? Thanks

you can tow a house with that 4spd trans and not hurt it.You can use the 6cyl bell for the 302.Depending on what year 302 you have you'll need a 28 or 50oz flywheel
