help me

ive got a 56 f-100, and the engine is a 66' 289 v-8. i need some tips on adjusting the valves, ive done it right from the book and its not working, it is missing alot, almost like the timing is off but the timing is fine. PLEASE HELP

help me

Only help I can really give is to make sure it is an adjustable valve train and not positive stop set up like the later modles. Someone could have change heads or something

Have you checked the timing chain. A loose timing chain can cause problems setting the dwell on the points. You indicated that your timing is right on...is it steady at idle. It'll jump around if the timing chain is loose. My $0.02.
