1986 f-150 motor swap ?\'s

I have a 1986 ford f-150 with a bad 300 inline 6 cyl.I have access to a 1988 for parts truck no title with a 351 windsor.I know the tranny will work it is a T-18 4 speed 2 wheel drive in the 86.I know I have to convert to carb it will be much easier. My ? will the fram mounts from the 88 fit the 86 also can I use the flywheel off the 300 to go onto the 351 W.Also my steering gear box leaks bad.Can I use the one from the 88 parts truck onto my 86.If I decided to use the auto from the 88 parts truck instead of the 4 speed what all is needed to make this work in the 86.I need to know soon. Also will the steering colum fit into the 86 from the 88?

just curious....how many miles did it take for the 300 six to finally take a dump?

Man, I'd have to say that's got to be the toughest most reliable engine ever made. Neighbor has a '85 long bed F150 with just under 400,000 on the original 300 six. Truck is basically junk and worn out but the motor still purrs like a new one.

Not sure I bought this truck this way I heard it had around 300,000.It still runs but misses out on a cylinder like a bad valve. It has a lot of blowby out of the oil cap.How can you tell if it is rings or a bad valve?

well...if there's a lot of blowby coming out of the valve cover breathers, that's a tell-tale sign of piston/ring leakage. If it was JUST a valve the pressure wouldn't make it into the crankcase
