5 speed overdrive for a 3/4 ton

Is there a 5 speed o/d trans heavy enough for a 3/4 ton that will bolt in older trucks,I just bought a 66 F250 that has a 4 speed with granny trans and I would like to find a 5 speed o/d to put in it for better gas mileage. I dont want to put in a wimpy trans as I will be hauling with this truck.

There has to be one out there but it's probably plugged into a diffrent style motor than what you want to put it on... That's usually the case for me anyway....

Do some internet searching on the Clark 5 speed. Its not a direct install, but its pretty damn close. Buddy put one in his 73 half ton 4x4.

there the ZF S5-42(420 ft-lb capacity) and ZF S5-47(470 ft-lb capacity) The ZF S5-42 is in 88?-95 f250-350 and the ZF S5-47 is in 96-? F250-350. You can get it with a 302-351, 429-460, or 7.3 Diesel bell housing.

A late model dodge/Chevy NV4500 5psd will fit behind your Ford with an Advance Adapters adapter. These transmissions have a cast iron case and the bellhousing is seperate from the trans unlike the late model Ford units. These go behind the 3/4ton-up trucks including diesels.
