F-150 with a 5.0 timing...

I just swapped out the blown engine in my 91 F-150. I got a 5.0 from a 97 Explorer to replace it. I used the heads and intake from my F-150. The problem I am into...I replaced the roller cam with an aftermarket hydraulic cam. The Explorer engine had the pickup on the engine in place of the distributor, and I need to figure out TDC for # 1 cylinder. Help. I can't remember the procedure. It's been too many years since I did this, and it was a GMC then.

Pull the Plug and put a thumb over the hole and have someone hand crank the motor over with a big ratchet. When it starts to push the air put a long straw or a thin screwdriver in the plug hole and keep bringing it up till it stops moving. Thats within a deg. or two of TDC! Then replace the dist wherever you want as long as the wires are going where they should and you have #1 wire plugged in where the rotor is pointing.

Hope you can decipher that..

Good Luck!
