Under the hood condensation...

I have an 85 Ford Bronco that I have been working on and I am encountering a lot of condensation under the hood. It is usually after tempertures change from cool mornings and it warms up outisde, you all know how it works. But without the truck running, I get a lot, and I do mean a lot of water under the hood, and it drops on the engine. Sometimes it looks like someone hosed the engine down. Any ideas on how to correct this, would insulation stp it from happening? I thought about putting some under the hood, but then I worried about water being trapped between the hood and sheet metal and forming rust. Any ideas are greatly apprecitated.

HI
Well I haven't hear of that much condensation befor just for temp change..
Are you sure you don't have a hose leak spraying water on the hood and motor after its shut off

Under the hood condensation...

It happens when the truck hasn't been run. I have checked all hoses, and it's clear water, not coolant. It's weird how much water appers under the hood. Although today when I checked, it was dry as a bone, so I am guessing I will just try and coat the underneath of the hood with a good waterproofing, then put on some underhood insulation.

Underhood insulation will stop most of that. During the day the hood will always be warmer than the rest of the front end, and when it cools off that's where the moisture comes from, it is the humidity being drawn to the hood as the hood cools down.

Hope this helps.

I figured the insulation would help, I just worry about rust build up in between the hood and the insulation. The weird thing is, I could understand the big temp swings if the truck were running all the time, but this happens even with the truck sitting cold for a few days straight. I am going to go ahead with the insulation though, should help it out.

Don't worry about the hood rusting overmuch. The insulation pad will prevent the water from getting to the metal.
