Gas gauge problems HELP

Ok guys need some input badly.
I have a 1988 Ford E150 conversion at work and mysteriously the gas gauge stopped working on either tank.
Checked all fuses and relays in fuse box.
Pulled cluster changed gauges real quick. No difference.
Grounded back of gauge with test light, gauge went up... Gauge OK
Went between terminals at back of gauge, gauge went up.
Went to tank switch determined what wires went to what tanks.
Went to each tank and grounded signal wire off the frame and off negative wire in tank harnesses. Guess what gauge went up just like every other time. Release ground gauge goes back down. Can't believe both senders went bad at same time.
Oh, yes I am reasonably certain there is gas in both tanks so don't go there.
The only thing I found both tanks had in common was 1 wire coming off the switch
which when grounded I can switch between tanks and the gauge goes up but don't know where this wire goes.
PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This thing gets delivered in a couple of days.
Dave in balto

Gas gauge problems HELP

RE-ground your tank grounds and the one that comes out of the harness about a foot from the plugs.
