Has anyone done one and if you have can I see some pictures? I was told this is a simple swap with the big x-member but nothing is coming out right.

Thanks

Guess I should have been more decriptive. This is a 61 Econ Truck. Took out the little six and 3spd and sticking a 5.0 and 4spd in it.

I think it was the peterson publishing all Ford book number 1 had an article. They put a cleveland in one. They cut the crossmember and lowered it several inches. Also they cut the dog house and used a bigger 3 speed that has the weird hanging mount. I'm thinking they cut the dog house because the cleveland was so wide. This might not be 100% as it's all coming from memory and seem to be running short nowdays.

I see a early econoline van with a 4 speed on the column on ebay every now and then and if that is true you could make your 3 speed column shifter work on a 4 speed. I have never seen one in person so I dont know if the seller was full of it but the only vehicles I have heard of a 4 speed on the column was a older mercedes.

Converting the 3 to a 4 on the column isnt bad, but you will need to rig up something for reverse. I've heard of levers under seats, PTO cables, stuff like that.

As for the V8, Im sorry, but I have no useable info. Never done that swap, or even read about it...

My buddy Rigger has a late 60s Chevy pickup with a 4 on the tree. To use reverse, you simply put the colum in N, then pull out the choke cable.

Not too many people could steal that thing...

there is one featured in the Sept. 2004 issue of Mustangs and Ford Magazine. it has a white '67. it features an EFI 5.0. the atricle states that none of the original sheet metal or wiring was cut to make the conversion. He is also running the original 3 on the tree. it might be posted on the mustangandfords.com web site, but I'm not sure.

good luck, sounds like a nice project.
