Bronco parts swap (Transmission and transfer case)

I have two Broncos, an 83 and an 89 ( these are both fullsize), and well my 83 has seen better days. The body rot is getting out of hand, the electrical system has been fried and it's drier outside the truck than inside when it rains. And just recently I have noticed cracks starting to form in the frame. So I am making a hard decision to get rid of the old girl, but not before she can prove to be useful again (I hope) my 89 has a good body, but needs a new engine, which is on the way. But I cannot stand the three speed automatic overdrive tranny it has, just weak feeling, and the BW transfer case I have heard nothing but bad things about (but now I am sure some fans of BW cases will chime in. )
Well the 83 has a C-6 tranny, and a good NP-208 transfer case in it (which I have been told is a stout piece, not as great as an NP-205, but a good case all the same). Now as far as swapping them out, I know I need the the tranny & convertor, transfer case, crossmember and drive shafts, and all the little associated hardware. Is there anything else I should be planning on for this swap?
I figure it should be relatively easy (yeah right!) seeing as both are the same body style, and I do have all the parts there. But I just wanted to see if anyone else has done this and can recall any little nasties that I should think about and plan for now. And yes while the 89 is all apart I do plan on rebuilding the C-6 and the NP-208 (freshen up I think is a more proper term) and replace all the universal joints too. So what does anyone think, any little surprise I should be in for, or just good old fashioned hardwork and pretty much a straight forward swap? And before it's asked, both trucks are powered by a 302. Any input is greatly appreciated.
