FM just picked up a 1989 F-150 5.0L...

Basically a shop truck... but who knows, we might have some fun with it. Give us some suggestions. It has a 5.0L EFI motor (Hmm, perhaps we stroke it?) Automatic Trans (no clue what type...AOD?)

Ditch the hupcaps for sure. Any set of wheels will look better than those.

Upgrade the front end to the newer style. Its a fairly easy swap, and I just happen to have all the parts ya need, minus 1 fender. The 87-91 front end just never looked right IMHO.

A four wheel drive conversion is truly and 100% honestly a bolt on procedure. If ya want more details, just ask.

I'd probably leave the engine alone, with minor mods to aid in mileage more than power. Unless of course you go 4x4, where I would suggest at minimum a 351 (or a built up 300 if your really feeling adventurous)

Id leave the tranny alone untill it gives up the ghost (or you go 4x4, which will necessitate a tranny swap) I prefer a manual tranny, but a well built auto would probably be preferable for a shop truck.

What do you mean by converted? the front clip?

If so, its just a 94 Front clip, so it would look like a 92-96.

If you meant the 4x4 part, basically you unbolt the I-Beams, and bolt in the Twin Traction beams of a 4x4. There are a few other specific details, but thats pretty much the long and short of it.

Also just a lil FYI

The stock Ford alloy wheels from arround 93-95 or 96 were made by alcoa. Good looking forged aluminum rims. Can be had relatively cheap as well.

Boy Im racking up the post count here!

I've got a stock chrome rear bumper as well, not 100% perfect (the plastic on top has some minor scrapes) but If ya want it, I'd trade it to ya for a couple of T-shirts

My thoughts exactly! A tasteful set of 17" rims & a stroked 351 with a mild hydraulic roller backed with a 4R70W. Good tow vehicle & a decent track truck. Maybe a Novi???

I have a 1989 F150 ,302,AOD 171000 miles with theses mods...Jacobs Milage master with ceramic boots and DEI boot protectors,K&N,edelbrock ceramic headers, Gibson 3" Stainless cat back system, cold air intake box(came stock on F250's as i recall).
Not sure how to add photos to this post but uploaded some photos some where.........
How about doing a head upgrade, rocker arms?
I was thinking of 'Power heads" http://www.powerheads.com/SB50.html or AFR 165 heads.
Also i think the 1989 F150 came with hydralic flat tappet cam(not the roller cam) and bank to bank injection and not sequential electronic fuel injection system.................
