1974 ford F100 truck

Hey there Guys, This is my first post so take it easy on me! I just bought a 1974 ford F100, it has a straight six and a carter carb. When I am driving at a consistant throttle the truck falls in and out of power. Almost like a vaccume leak, When I give it throttle it passes whatever is making the power loss and picks back up. It almost sounds like a Vaccume problem but I am not shure. Has anybody ran into this before? If so how did you fix it? Also, The carb does not have a aircleaner or housing. Can anybody suggest a carb and housing? do I need to take pics to show you? I honestly dont know anything about this truck YET. Thanks Chris

The carb circuits are probably dirty (and you may be getting engine wear from not running the cleaner). Far less likely but possible is that the vacuum advance is not functioning.

I'd rebuild the carb and get a cleaner!
