What does everybody think of the 6.0 powerstrokes? Compared to the 7.3?
I was just wondering what everybody with the 6.0 powerstroke thought of it. How does it compare to the 7.3? My dad has a '00 7.3 and we have 180K on it with no problems, we use the truck to tow a bobcat and plow snow. It is chipped, but not a really big one i dont think. It has good power. I have heard that the 6.0 are doggy and they have problems. This is mostly from chebby people who think that their moter is the most durable since it has lasted 4 years. Ive never driven a 6.0. I was just curious what kind of luck people had with them.

I've heard nothing but bad things about the 6-liter.

im a diesel tech at a ford dealer, imo the 6.0l is at most..........ok dont ask for any more power out of it with out head and gasket issues, dont over load it either,(head gaskets)the 7.3l realy spoiled every body in the ford camp, very dependable, fairly easy to work on(compared to the 6.0)the 6.0 has had and still has its probloms, hope they go away when the 6.4l comes out, ford has there work cut out for them.all in all i would still buy a ford over anything else, the whole truck as a whole is better

Nobody i know has had any problems with their 6.0s but i dont think they have had them for a really long time. I agree that you definatly get the most with a ford truck, even with the 6.0. When is the 6.4 coming out? '06? or later?

My dad is retired, was adelivery driver for a large dealership here in nebraska for a while last year...people bought stuff, he would trailer it out to the customer, etc for delivery.
We were talking about the super duty stuff, I want one but am not going to fork out $30k for a truck right now.
Ran into issues recentally on injectors going bad, and had two on the lot still new F350 dually trucks with bad pcm's.
A cousin was a Dodge guy, but switched all his company trucks to ford, and this spring his crew cab blew the turbo, with less than 32k miles on it...
Then I look at my brother's pos GM and my other brother's Dodge and I'll still take a Ford any day over the other stuff.

I personally would defiantly stay away from GM, there is very little truck there. I do like the Cummins tho. That is an unkillable engine. Too bad a company like Ford coudlnt get Cummins instead of the POS Dodge haveing a great engine and a tranny that cant handle power from a small block gas.

My ex-boss bought a F-450 box/cargo truck brand new, and its been back to the dealer 5 times already because the 6.0 is a POS.
Problem after problem keeps happening, and its not even a year old yet!
Another friend of mine who works for a very large worldwide company just got a new service truck....a brand new 2005 Ford F-350 with service bed and 6.0 motor.
Its been in the repair shop twice in 2 weeks!!
Ford is having a real problem with the 6.0....esspecially the electronics that control the engine.

I have a 03 6.0. Had it since Sept. 03. No problems whatsoever. Couldn't ask for a better truck. Runs strong. No POS here!!
