worth anything?

A friend of mine is having me build a transmission for him....says he has a '59 Ford F100 in his back 40. It's supposedly got 41,000 original miles (been in the family so it's for sure 41,000) and isn't too bad. It's a fleetside. Are these things worth anything?

I was kind of thinking about doing another small project, just something to play with on days off....this might just be the ticket.

It's got a flathead V8 and standard transmission. Straight axle of course, guy says he used to start it up once a month or so up until about 2 years ago. Says it ran perfect; in fact he used to use it to run back & forth from his house to the back side of his property where there are several old cars laying inside of a partially fallen barn. I can get it SUPER cheap (trade). I haven't looked at it yet, may do that this weekend when the weather is nice.

Look at NADA.com under classics, I looked and it is at least worth $4,000 maybe even up to $15,000 in great shape.

Nada is HUGELY GIGANTICALLY Distorted...

I can see it grab $ 4 to $ 5K but not much more without a Whole Lot of Work...

The interesting thing is WHAT cars are in this BARN? THat's the interesting part.... The 59 is cool but what's in the old fallen in barn.

Find out for us.

I think someone swapped in the flattie. I caught that too.

Going up there tomorrow to scope out what's there.

NADA is what many insurance companies use to value a car.
KBB is hugely distorted, and they don't have listing for older cars. If you can score the truck for a grand or two, go for it.

My guess is ... if it's worth something to you as a project ... and you turn it into something cool, then there lies the value.

It wouldn't appear to me to be a highly sought after Classic but if you think it might be "just the ticket" for you as a project then I wouldn't hold back as long as you understand the score ... right from the get-go.

Simply meaning it isn't a 56 F100 ...(and you'd pay a ton more for the 56) even as a starter project.

Guy wants $50 for it. Still haven't seen it yet though. Going over there Sunday with my 4 wheeler...& gonna check out the barn too!

Looking at some of the '59's on the 'net, it's not exactly a "good looking" body style. Very unique especially the front end. I wish it was a '66. That's what I really would like to have. I found one a year or so ago, CHEAP (free) and in good condition...came with a parts truck ('78 F100). Storm came through the day before I was supposed to go pick them up and an Oak tree fell on the '66 and destroyed it.

That SUCKS! The 66's are nice!

I think that without the original motor, and without a full restoration that you would be hard pressed to get $1,000 out of that 59. I'm being serious. It's not one of fords prettier models and not extreemly desireable anr the original engine is not there who knows what else is gone...

I really want to know what's in the barn...
