A/C retrofit

Anyone got experience retrofitting a 1990 f250 factory a/c into 1991 f250 without a/c? Books or websites? All the hard pieces fit without problem. Looking for info on hook-up for vaccum lines that control vents and electrical.

A/C retrofit

When I did mine on my 82 f150 from a later bronco. It was guess and check on the vaccume lines, but the electrical was plug and go. The ac plugs were laying behind the dash. Nice huh?

A/C retrofit

It's been about 7 years since I did AC installs. If you have both trucks I would think it would be a plug and play. Our shop used to buy the Ford kits and they were great. The vaccum lines should all be there and I think if you just change the control head it should work. The kits used to come with a new face plate and function selector switch, you had to cut out a small portion of plastic behind the knob to allow the switch to rotate all the way to Max AC. I would just swap in an AC control head. The wiring should be routed up onto the compressor mount. Just a connector on a push pin. There should also be another connector on the right side fender well that needs to be plugged into the low pressure swich on the accumulator. If everything is on the other truck you should have it all. If for some reason the wiring is not under the hood there is a connector on the inside of the cab that goes through a grommet and out the top of the AC box along with the vaccum lines, at the connector the cab side has a wire thats not on the AC side of the harness. You will need to run a wire from there to the low pressure switch and on to the compressor. Don't quote me but I think the wire at the connector is Lt green. Hope this helps
