What the hell is "fulfer"?

All kidding aside, it would be a good idea to run a sulfer replacement. All the sulfer is there for is to add a protective layer to the cyl walls and such, just like an upper cylinder lube. Auto parts stores sell additives that serve as a sulfer additive, maybe even truck stops.

Heck, Costco might even start selling it, of course in a 55 gallon drum, as part of a 2 pack just kidding.

I wouldn't worry about it. I have a 99 PSD with 200,000 miles on it and have run an additive I think twice in that time.

I now run BIODIESEL which is 99% soy oil and 1% petro oil.

I like to add a little lubricant to the fuel. Stanadyne, or the Ford lubricity agents are good, as well a Powerservice.

However, the fuel companies are supposed to add different lubricity agents to offset the sulfur loss. They are doing that, depends if you think its enough. Bottom line its NOT required, good idea? maybe, but you shouldnt HAVE to.

I ran it even when the LSD was on the street.

As 64 said, biodiesel is good, higher lubricity but can gel a bit easier. His 7.3 injection system is a bit more tolerant, look to your owners manual with a 6.0, I ran B20 in mine and it ran well, but I dont think Ford Motor Company likes biodiesel much

Re: low fulfer diesel fuel

Since we are talking about this subject I want to get a few opinions. I used to have a old 6.9 that I would run filtered burned motor oil in with the diesel, it ran good and got 20 miles per gallon. Move on a few years later now with my 2000 7.3 f250 banks turbo 4 inch strait pipe and 100hp bighoss chip and stock injectors. I was worried about using the burned oil in my diesel with this newer engine. when this new low sulfer fuel came out I noticed my truck to be a little sluggish. I decided to start using the oil in this truck, about one gallon each fill up. It ran better and I have been getting better fuel mileage using it. My tank holds about 27 gallons bone dry and I am up to using 2-3gallons of used oil each fill up now with no problems. Each time I change my oil in my truck I change my fuel filter(every 6000miles). I still average 20 miles per gallon using the oil. I would like to here all yall diesel guys opinions on this subject. Its like getting 60 miles of fuel for free each fill up. Thanks for every ones time, greg

Re: low fulfer diesel fuel

An early 6.9 is a far different animal than a Powerstroke. The 6.9 had mechanical injection pump which can easily handle some clean waste oil

I cant imagine it would hurt a thing if its clean and fuel filters are changed as needed on the 6.9

The later systems are electronically fired, but build pressure using hi pressure oil, when they run dry it galls the injectors and ruins them quickly. 7.3's seem to be more tolerant, but a 6.0 doesnt seem to like it

Personally, I think in small quantities your 7.3 can handle it, but watch the fuel filter closely. If you had a 6.0, I would expect the filters would plug and quickly run dry
