76 F100 4X4 Project

Here is a selection of PICs of the New Project.

Just today I got my new Nevada Title for the truck. I never bought anything from an auction like this, but all went well on the papaerwork.

Plenty to do, as you can see, but it is a very decent platform to start with and build on.

As far a the body goes, the most challenging thing will be the tail light housing areas.

Still not 100% sure what to do for a power plant ... I think it would be real nice to match this 4X4 to the Mach1 and the 54 Effie with a street build 460.

All I can do is start picking away at it and see where it ends up

Progress thus far is.

I pulled the wheels so I can remove the rotted tires, powdercoat the wheels and get some new rubber to roll on.

Found a deal on new grill inserts and purchased them, so those cut up pieces will eventually get replaced.

I intend to get decent rubber under the truck and make certain all brake functions are 100% up and functional first thing.

The rear differential has nuts off the studs so I'll need to get in there and see what the status on the rear end is ... make sure there is no "monkey business" going on.

I plan to basicly get everything under the truck checked out and restored as needed before I get involved to heavily under the hood or inside the cab (the dash is pretty much missing.)

Body work will happen in bits and pieces all along the way.

Cool. You can do ALL sorts of stuff to that truck. Still have the 360 in it?

Long time no see Uriah...

That truck belonged to a buddy of mine, when we bought it the owner claimed they swapped a 390 into it, but we never confirmed it. Still has an FE at this point. Was nice to see the truck come back, and for Larry to be able to purchase it.

Not to hijack Larry's thread, but I finished my Bronco. I know you're a 73-79 fan, so here ya go.

Cool, glad to see the Bronco's rollin'. Havn't been online much anymore... until after last Sunday when my apendix attacked the rest of me, in church no less. That was one of our more interesting services.

Did the same thing I did on the F150 with the 77down style mirrors. You can actually see behind you. Put about a 2.5" lift on it (they ALWAYS recommend a 4" with 33s...) and you won't stuff the tires in the fenderwells near as much. I took my 4" lift and 35s off (and axles and the rest of the drivetrain, long story) and went back to stock with 33s. HUGE difference. Well, going from 4.88s back to 3.50s was ever bigger. Feels like I've got 2 extra gears now.

I don't go back to work until Wed (need release from Dr.) so I might catch you again before then, later.

Here is my first signs of real progress on the 76 4X4.

I had the existing wheels powdercoated because I didn't want to go looking for new "expensive" wheels. After the powdercoat I reloaded them with new Goodyear rubber.

Here is a little before and after shot.

I went for more of a "Street Tire" for my purposes ... These are 31 X10.5 15s
