\'71 F100
My brother picked up a '71 F100 while he was home on leave, but it needs some TLC. The hood is rusted out and there is a little bit of surface rust on the front fenders. The hood "could" be fixed but I'd rather it be replaced since I'm going to be doing the body prep. Is there any other year model hood that will fit? How about an aftermarket fiberglass option? I haven't seemed to be able to locate anything.
The truck is in great shape except it wouldn't fit totally under the roof of the barn. The hood was sticking out of the barn a little bit which is most likely why it's rusted as bad as it is (rest of the truck was covered but the cover blew off the front of it). I am wondering if it would be possible to swap out the fenders and hood from a '78-'79 pickup, since the '71 needs the grille, hood, and fenders anyway? Those '78-9 pickups are plentiful out here....
He has a 400 in the shop...but since he's going to be gone another 13 months, I am thinking about going with a 5.4/6 speed from a donor F250. Right next to that '03 F250 is a '00 F250 with a V10/4R100 that runs great. I wonder if that'll fit?
