My 302 just bit the dust (crankshaft started shake the engine like crazy and spit out part of the front main seal)... what is the best route to go, and how much will it cost me? Have it rebuilt (if possible) or have a new (or ramanufactured) crate put in it? Thanks for any input!

I had a local shop long block my 302 (now a 306). I took mine apart and delivered the pcs. There bill for machine work, and a few upgrades was 1900.00 I purchased another 1000 in intakes, carbs, headers, roller rockers, cam kit, all pumps, and ignition. I probably missed a few items but I figured 3k by the time I was done having fun. Stock rebuild re-using working bolt ons would be 1500 - 2000 my guess.

You could probably get a stock crate with warranty for the same amount, but I preferred dealing with people who rely on good customer relations in the same town I live in to make a living.

I've got 1400 miles on it so far.
