Thumbs up 1978 f100 clutch problem

Hi guys, The clutch pedal on my truck has become very stiff to operate. It seems like it catches on something as i apply it, but there is nothing to catch on. Checked the slave cylinder and the clutch fork ( they really dont line up very well, and never have ), i think this may be were the problem is. A mechanic mate seems to remember some sort of common problem in this area but he hasn't seen an old f100 for years. Can anyone help out??? my left leg is getting really sore!!! Galman

If it's getting hard to push and it's a hydraulic clutch system I'm betting that you're throwout bearing is jamming on the shaft or something silly like that.... Take off the slave from the clutch fork and see if it moves outward and inward without much trouble.
Maybe it's gore in the slave, maybe it's a clutch going to crap...

Take it out over the weekend and see what's up.

might seem like a crazy idea, but try to spray a little lubricant on the input shaft retainer, around the throwout bearing. Dont go crazy, a lil bit will probably go a long way.

A 78 shouldnt have a slave cylinder, they are mechanical linkage

Are you sure he looked at it?

The hyd clutch didnt come out until the next bodystyle.
