power steering, but only a little

well, i just got the f150 running good and noticed that the power steering isn't working (the truck sat for almost 2 years). it was working properly when i last used it. already tried the "new" rebuilt pump on another truck this weekend so i know it works fine. i don't think it's a problem with bleading the air out .-but then again...
the steering is a bit stiff but not to the point that it would stall out the pump (could be a bad ball joint--or 2) or (the stiffness is coming from the steering box??) it will sort of work turning to the left (pulses and whines badly) but on the turn to the right it has nothing but a small whine and no help. there are no leaks, no foaming and the fluid is at the proper level.
yes it's the plastic tank pump.
again it's a '78 f150 4x4 351m,4spd, man. hubs etc.etc.
thanks again for all the help!

Sometimes puppy's have to die. Check your axle U joints. if the are sezied it can play heck with your steering as I have found out.
PS the #### chevy### box does seem to work better.

They're NOT chevy boxes to tell teh truth.... They are Saginaw steering boxes that Chevy uses...

They are nice though for sure!

Cool Re: power steering, but only a little

I stand corrected. The close ratio box I ended up with was from a ,well one of those.
PS Its alot of fun to play with.(and still runs)
