Re: 67 engine swap

The trans should bolt up with no problems. He will need to get a different set of motor mounts, easy to get at a salvage yard, look for a 69-79 F100 or F150 with a 302. Or try posting a want ad here, Fordification, or one of the many other truck sites. May need to get a different radiator, I think the hoses go to opposite sides of the rad on 6's vs V8's.

Re: 67 engine swap

The 302 should actually buy you more room length wise and yes it does bolt right to the transmission. As far as motor mounts go, I just bought a pair of brand new ones for $50 (any auto store). A little custom altering may have to be done, I had to grind some of mine off to fit around the oil filter area. Its a piece of mind to know when you mash on the pedal it aint goin anywhere. If you are running a Carb then it should be an easy swap and if running a manual tranny it is even easier.

Re: 67 engine swap

Blue92 has a good point about getting new motor mounts. What I should have said was get the 302 engine stands. Some people call them towers. Sort of "L" shaped metal brackets that bolt to the frame. The engine mounts bolt to the engine, then when you install the engine into the mounts bolt to these stands/towers.

I've pulled and reinstalled engines twice in the 67-72 body style truck. If you can, you might want to remove the rad & core. I did this on the second truck, so much easier to work on, plus gives you an easier time to clean & paint the engine bay.

Good luck, its not too hard if you have a decent place to work.
