Lower intake gasket - 90 F150.

I need a bit of help here. I've been into cars for quite a while but never delved to deep into wrenching. Mostly because I was worried about screwing stuff up. But I gotta learn sometime and my lower intake manifold is leaking at the front all down the block. I've verified that it's in fact the manifold and everything, I just have a couple questions.

I'm assuming I'll have to disconnect the fuel rail to take the manifold off - does the pressure bleed off over time or am I likely going to get fuel everywhere?

I should use RTV as opposed to the rubber ends where the manifold meets the lifter valley, right?

Hmmm, any other tips would be great. Thanks guys.

Yes the fuel rail must be disconnected. Use rtv on end seals instead of gaskets. I like the Ford gray rtv they use on diesels. You can bleed the pressure off with the schrader valve on the fuel rail but dont do it on hot engine. You will need special tools to release the lines. You can buy the whole set for about 10 dollars.
