Expedition Y pipe.

Hi guys, New to this forum. I read a tad about how to install an X pipe on a 'stang and I had to ask about my truck......

I have a 1998 Expedition and I want to badly get rid of my cats. I haven't done any major mods to the engine and want to start by doing the H pipe on this truck. The engine is a 4.6L that it shares with the 'stangs just with different heads.

where, aside from bassani, can I get a off road pipe for this puppy? I know it's going to be tough this is more of a Y pipe and not true dual exhaust. 4 cats and then a y pipe and single tip? That can't possibly breathe well at all.

If there is no company that makes this, I think I'm going to pay the wreckers a visit, Buy a stock one, Gutt the useless cats like a fish and chuck em on.

The only problem is the O2's. where can I buy MIL eliminators? I'd rather not make my own and don't know the right resistance.

Thanks for your help guys!

Re: Expedition Y pipe.

BBK makes MILs but just so you know, w/ those old NPI heads and garbage manifolds, you won't gain anything (maybe 5 hp TOPS) from making the exhaust breath easier after the manifolds. Personally, I'd invest in at least cleaning up those heads and maybe some PI cams.

Re: Expedition Y pipe.

I really don't want to pry the heads off of this thing. I know the engine was rebuilt about 2 years ago. What if I went with headers?

Also the other reason I want to do this because I already installed a flowmaster catback system on this truck. What really pissed me off is the sound. I've always put flows on my ride and was told that the truck would sound deadly with this kit.

What a joke. The truck sounds like a *****. It's just as loud and throaty as stock.........CATS MUST DIE!!!!

Re: Expedition Y pipe.

Let me guess, the 50 series mufflers, right? My friend has one of those on his S10 and the thing sounds like stock. Headers are good but remember, the restriction is in the heads so what you do to the exhaust won't net much power as a result. Basically, I'm just warning you to not expect much performance gains.
