My "new" F-100 stepside

Just picked it up Friday.
Shortbed stepside. 2wd auto. Last tagged in '94.
Odometers shows 43,000 and is supposed to be actual miles.
Carb.'s off it, not sure if it runs yet or not.
Where can I find production numbers for this truck?
Trying to decide whether to restore it or maybe hoot rod it?
Paint is shot, but the only rust other than minor surface areas is the front of the rear fenders under the step.
