Newbie looking for bolt diagrams? 351W

Recently acquired my Dad's old Truck. '83 F150 with a 351W in it.

Timing chain was replaced and engine was never put back together. I'm new to V8's and was wondering if there are any bolting diagrams for the Timing Chain Cover ,Water Pump and all the pulleys etc..

I have all the parts and all the bolts/studs (hopefully), I just don't know where each bolt/stud goes.

Any help is much appreciated!!

Thanks

Re: Newbie looking for bolt diagrams? 351W

It's not an easy question to answer..The good news is you can figure it out yourself it just takes some time..Just screw each bolt in and it will soon become apparent where they go..The shorter ones will hold the timing cover on as well as some of the waterpump bolts..The longer ones will go around the ports where the water flows from the pump to the block..These long bolts also typically go through alternator brackets or PS brackets so don't forget to add the thickness of the brackets..You will want to get approx 1/4 inch of threads or so threading into the timing cover or the block..If it is any less or way more than you have the bolt in the wrong spot.

Be sure to use sealant on the water pump bolts that pass through the water jackets

The only thing left is the alt, ps pump, ac, radiator etc.. I just haven't had the time lately, plus the weather has been really up and down.. Hopefully next weekend.

Re: Newbie looking for bolt diagrams? 351W

A couple quick Question:

The timing cover seal at the bootom of the timing cover that slips over the Crank, do I need to grease the seal itself before I put everything back together?

Do I just use a simple black grease if I do?

Thanks for your helps guys, it's much appreciated!!
