I am thinking of a new vehicle-help me decide

Hey guys, I was just wanting your imput on a new rig. Now I have a pos little white car for my commuter. I would really like a full size truck for my new beater. My wife is also the gas milage nazi so she doesn't help at all. Doesnt have to be great milage but has to be ok. I was just wondering if you guys had any suggestions for me. Plus the next rig I get WILL BE easy to work on.

I am thinking maybe an old 2bbl fullsize 2wd might get ok milage...?

Or I like fullsize bronco's too but think they must be a gas turd...

what do you guys like or had good luck with? (doesn't really need to be a ford)

Thanks guys

I would say get something with a 300I6 and a stick - simple, bullet proof and efficient. A few mods would make it a great daily driver...

My friend's dad's F350 DRW Lariat w/ an 8' bed and crew cab w/ the 7.3 Powerstroke gets about 20 mpg highway, unloaded and 13 mpg highway w/ a RV trailer. I'd say go w/ diesel if mileage is a concern and if the stations around you have it.

I'm driving a 1996 F-150 with the 5.0..It gets about 20mpg on the highway but probably only about 12 in town...It all depends on what you want to do with the truck..I second the 300 six with a stick as being very bulletproof and very versatile..

Re: I am thinking of a new vehicle-help me decide

I have 93 F350 Crew Cab with 5.8 2wd and get 15 on the highway with 3.55 gears. My 87 Bronco 5.0 never got better than 13 mpg hwy and 10 city. My 99 Explorer 4x4 4.0 SOHC gets 22 on the hwy and 15 in town. I guess I just dont care about mileage. BTW my 352 gets about 18 all around. Go figure.
