Lifting my F-150

I am putting 44" tires under my '76 F-150 and I am not too sure what kind of lift I am going to need. I have been looking around for different lift kits and what they have to offer and I found a few Skyjacker kits that offer a 9" suspension lift but I am not sure that will be enough so I was thinking that I should maby go with a 2"-3" body lift. If anyone has any different suggestions or a different way that may work better I am all ears, thanks. (I am not bound and determined on skyjacker name brand its just that they hade the biggest lift that I could find for my truck, I am sure there may be bigger and better out there).

What? No replies ... at all? Seems stange for this place.

I'm not much into serious "lifting", but I would think one of the things that you need to ask yourself is whether this is for serious Off-roading, a Street thing or somewhere in the middle?

I've seen guys put on lift kits for a whole lot of reasons ... so the heigth, type and "best" can vary all over the place.

By the way - Got Tires with that?

I am deffanatly going to use it for mud bogging only, and I am giong to go with 44" super swamper boggers. I guess my main concern is the clearance I want to make sure that I don't mess up the tires or the fenderwell too much when I hit a big rut or a pothole.

Re: Lifting my F-150

at a minimum you need a 12" suspension lift to clear 44" tires, especially if you are planning on taking it offroad and not just being a street queen; more if you really plan on bouncing around in a mud hole. you may need to find leaf springs for another application that are the same length as your spring perches. hope it helps.

Re: Lifting my F-150

9inch suspension, 3 inch body and fender cutouts should be more than enough, depending on width if your running like a 44x18.5 swamper, your gonna want to squeeze every inch out of it, but like a 44x13.5 or so (narrow tires go way better in the mud anyway) then you should be fine, my buddy has a 79 chev with a 6 inch suspension lift and fender cut outs and hes running 40x15.5 swamper boggers

I suggest 4Wheel Parts... go to their website request a catalog, I know those boys personally and you can't go wrong with their expertise.

BigMo,

what axles are under the truck? if stock...forget about 44's...you'll need one ton axles with 44's in mud. either sterling 10.25, Dana 70 or Corporate 14bolt in back and a dana 60 in front. Rear Axle Guide - FSB Forums
