Offered for sale is this 1968 Cougar XR7. It is a project car as it needs to be rebuilt from the bottom up, but it’s strengths are a rust free body, and it’s intact
This is the XR7 model with a 302-4V (J-code) motor, C4 automatic transmission, power steering, power disc brakes, console. It is missing the original radio and clock, otherwise it’s all there.
Body is a beauty, no rust at all, all of it prepped for paint except passenger side which would only take a couple of hours. The vinyl roof was removed years ago and it’s currently painted black.
The car needs TLC everywhere, but you don’t have to look for anything. All the trim is there, all the interior is there, even some spare parts in the trunk.
If I were to take this on as a project, I would start with the brakes, then the front suspension, then the driveline, then the interior, and lastly…the exterior.
.It needs labor, not $$ thrown at it. It ran when parked two years ago, albeit not very well. Brakes failed during storage.
It currently has Eleanor 15x8 wheels with brand new tires mounted on it that are available at exactly what I paid for them…$750. IF you don’t want these wheels/tires then I will put rollers on steel wheels at no extra cost and retain the Eleanors for another project.
. Take a look at what’s being offered on CL these days and you will see that this is fairly priced and is available immediately. Car is located in Thousand Oaks zip 91320. .
.Let’s find this a new home as soon as we can.
.$3250 firm with roller tires/wheels. $4000 with the Eleanor (not pictured) wheels and tires.
