1971 Mercury Cougar GT...very rare car

This is a very rare and hard to find Cougar GT. 1 of approximately 700 Cougar GT's produced in 1971. It was specifically produced as the replacement for the discontinued Cougar Eliminator of 1969/70, and only 1/3rd as many were made as the Eliminators!! While not as dramatic as the Eliminators, it is nevertheless, a great find for the Mercury or Cougar aficionado’s.
This is a bright lime green car (love it or hate it, but that's the color) with dark green interior. It is rust free, very solid body having spent it’s life in the California and Arizona deserts. It wears it's original paint which is pretty thin in places but allows you to see that there is no previous body work on this car. The interior needs some work as it is sun-baked. Seats and upholstery in better shape than the hard plastic, but nothing is model specific, so it is easy to find. The drive train is a 351C-4V (M-Code) with C6 automatic transmission (slipping in Drive), with the famous Ford 9" rear end. This is a very desirable drive train combination inasmuch as the engine has the very high flowing Cleveland 4V heads. The trunk contains many of the OEM parts that were removed and replaced with aftermarket stuff (engine compartment). All the car is there, all trim is intact. Wheels are not stock, do not match, and only allow the car to be moved around. You would want to replace with OEM or nice aluminum wheels anyway.
This is a very easy project to get you a very scarce car. I drove this car into the parking space, but it hasn't been started in a year. It is being sold as a non-driver at this time. It will need to be trailered or dollied to it’s new home for fluid changeout and a tuneup. I do have the Marti report on this car that will be provided to the new owner.
It requires really very little to have the rarest cat of all at the car shows!
I am asking $5000 obo, cash and carry only. I am not interested in any trades .
Car is located in Thousand Oaks, zip 91320. I just closed my automotive machine shop business, so am losing parking for all of my projects. Let's find this a new home with a Mercury Cougar lover that appreciates it's rarity (1 of approximately 700 made...compare that to the 2-3000 Eliminators manufactured).
