Brothers, I recently acquired an 89 LX hatchback and I bought it right. It's a white car with blue cloth powered by a 2.3 and automatic. I'll break it down on the goods and the bads.
The drivetrain - Good running 4 cylinder with a bad freeze plug. The car has 167K on the odometer and I'm sure it's right. The previous owner drove this car for many years until he went to work for a company that provided him with a car. He parked this car and apparently a freeze plug failed while it sat during the last two years. I bought it just like it sits. I have started the car and it runs fine. I drove it about 40 feet to where it sits behind my shop. Before doing so I tried to put coolant in it and it pours out of the area behind the exhaust manifold. I think the failed plug is at the rear behind the manifold.
The body - Straight as a string with what I believe are all original panels. I see no evidence of paint or bodywork ever. BUT... there is a small spot of rust in front of each rear wheel and the rear hatch has significant rust along the bottom lip. The paint has peeled off of the black strip on the rear bumper and some of the white has peeled around it. The rear fascia will need a total repaint.
The interior - original blue cloth in good condition. One noticable tear on front edge of passenger front seat. Other than that it just needs a really good cleaning. The options list on this car is good. P/W , P/S , P/L , PDB , Tilt , Cruise, A/C but the original stereo is gone. You'll need to provide your own tunes for this one.
The price of the car is firm at $ 900.00 picked up here in Lowell, Arkansas. I'm 105 miles east of Tulsa, 100 miles southwest of Springfield, Missouri and 180 miles northwest of Little Rock, Arkansas.
I've also got a good set of 10 hole wheels for the car for an additional 100 dollars.
