Big Blue True Street Mustang Goes to Texas

Aaron and Blair pull the car out for it's first dyno session and potential sale early Friday morning.

Those of you who follow the NMRA/NMCA are likely familiar with the Tremec True Street class and the stellar ET’s the street driven cars are capable of. With the 2010 record set into the low eights at the season ender by Angel Padilla, with a string of 8.0’s and sevens, the Sunday shootout had some players looking to step up their game – Randy Fuller is no exception.

Randy ran a limited schedule this year with his 438 ci Proline powered 95 Cobra without having any real luck and he hopes to change that for 2011 with the purchase of the purpose-built Big Blue Mustang project.

We all met at Fordspeed Racing in Pinellas Park, Florida to run the car on the dyno to assure all is well with the car and meet some agreed upon expectations. Three pulls were made and also some time spent wiring up the boost controller and some other miscellaneous items taken care of. Running off the wastegate springs only, the rollers saw over 1000 horsepower without breaking a sweat and no issues came up – the deal was sealed and the car was off to Texas and its new home

The powerplant is a 440 cubic inch small block Ford, Eddelbrock Victor heads and intake fed by twin 88mm Precision Turbos.

The Fuller team consists of crew member Brent Eary and Tom Washburn, who is the crew chief and has been in charge of tuning the previous car and chassis setup. He will maintain that role after the trip to Wolfe Racecraft for initial set up and plans to work with Wolfe on getting the car dialed in as well as Grant McReary for tuning in the horsepower. Blair still plans to run Little Blue next year and is looking forward to the competition and friendly camaraderie found with the True Street class. Plans are in the works for another Rockstar Performance project but we will have to wait and see what direction it takes.
