If you’ve been to a drag strip in the last few decades, you’ve probably noticed a plethora of Fox Mustangs galore. These cars (and their sister platforms for all intents and purposes) quickly became the quintessential drag racing foundation for anyone looking to go fast on a budget in many enthusiast’s eyes; and the Mercury Capri we see today follows that regime quite nicely.

While the Capri doesn’t receive as much popularity as the Fox Mustang iteration, that “rarity” makes this Vortech Superchargers YSI blown Coyote swapped Mercury that much more appealing if you ask us. That, and of course, the fact that this high-horsepower supercharged Capri can outrun just about any GM it’s stacked up against in a no-prep race.

Here’s the kicker, however. 900 horsepower and a massive Vortech centrifugal supercharger make for one heck of a “meat and potatoes” dish; but the icing atop the birthday cake is the Tremec T56 Magnum 6-speed manual transmission and the stock suspension paired with a set of coilovers.

On just under 21 pounds of boost, this Coyote swapped Fox Capri is making between 800 and 900 horsepower according to its owner–with a steady 800 rear-wheel horsepower on 18 pounds of boost alone. Not bad for a street-driven coupe that weighs just over 2,800 pounds and runs an 8.8-inch rear-end paired with a set of DOT approved slicks, don’t you think?
