When a successful television show like Discovery Channel’s Street Outlaws hosts a contest to find the baddest street car in the nation, you jump at the opportunity to be showcased. Such was the case for Glenn Hudelson, the owner of this 1990 Mustang LX hatch.

Appropriately dubbed “Hellboy,” this Fox was built with Vortech Superchargers boost and a chassis and drivetrain that can back it up. Glenn won Street Outlaws’ Motor Mayhem Contest in a bracket-style elimination event. When it came down to Glenn’s Fox and the runner-up, JD’s 2008 Shelby GT500, the it was the classic Fox that prevailed.

“Hudelson, who owns Hudelson’s Auto Repair & Performance in Blackhawk, South Dakota, has owned the car for over 20 years, and done most of the work on it himself,” Brian Ellis, Sales and Marketing rep at Vortech Superchargers, said. “The car makes well over 1,000 horsepower, and even though Hudelson is still working through some tuning gremlins, the car has successfully gone 5.70s at 124 mph in the eighth mile.”

The engine combination features a Ford Performance Parts Boss engine block stroked to more than 347 cubic inches, and is boosted to the tune of 26 to 28 pounds of boost, thanks to the incorporation of a Vortech YSi supercharger.

AFR 185 cylinder heads paired with Probe Industries shaft rockers and an Anderson Ford Motorsport B451 -grind camshaft help to tie the top-end together, while the remainder of the car features a Powerglide automatic transmission built by Schmidt Transmission and an ATI Racing 5,000-stall converter. Lastly, the rearend is a modified, narrowed 8.8-inch and uses a spool and Moser Engineering 33-spline axles, utilizing Weld Racing wheels and Aerospace brakes.
